This vintage 1930's-1940's oven proof bowl by 'Crown Oven Ware Pottery' is decorated on two sides with an Art Deco pattern of red, blue and yellow flowers in a black vase. The vase of flowers is sitting on a black and pink shelf with one stem of flowers trailing down. The bowl also has a red band on the under side of the rim. The cover is decorated with the same flowered pattern along with a red band 1/2" from the edge of the cover. The knob has an embossed leaf wreath on top with a red band around the edge. The lid also has a steam vent hole. The maker's mark on the bottom reads 'CROWN OVENWARE 7 36' with a crown in between 'CROWN' and 'OVENWARE'. The condition is good with no chips or cracks and the flowered appliques and red bands are in excellent shape. Both the bowl and lid have crazing and staining. The staining is on the underside of the lid and inside the bowl. Also included is a metal handled serving base with handles. The base was made by 'Sternauware New York' and has filigree sides. The base also has two handles and four ball feet. It is in very good condition with one small crack in the rim (see photo). The casserole measures 8 1/4" wide by 3 1/2" tall. The metal base measures 10 1/2" wide (handle to handle) by 4" tall. A great decorative piece. Price: $60
