Hobbit Village Folk Art Tole Painted Wall Storage Box

This charming hand painted, lidded, box is signed by the painter, Sandi;'81. Colorful, all over tole painting depicts a hobbit like village with arched rooftops, many windows; surrounded by florals, grass in forefront and clouds above. Lid is decorated with flowers, as is the arched back. Main colors are deep teal with brick colored trim.

Back piece appears to be pine; half circle is constructed like a wine barrel, pieces wider at the front; when put together create a circle. Difficult to determine the type of wood here as entire piece is painted. Look likes a dense wood, perhaps oak. Routed back piece measures 10 5/8" wide by 10 5/8" at top of arch. Half circle box is 8 3/8" wide, 4 1/4" deep. Lid has unique hand made hinge.

Entire box is finished with heavy varnish topcoat; irregular in thickness and having drips in places; giving the piece yet more charm.

Condition is very good to excellent; all pieces are holding together solidly, there are some dings and the bottom has a grease pencil mark.
