Wonderful Scottish Calendar-1944-Raphael Tuck
Published by Raphael Tuck & Sons Co., this Scottish calendar from 1944 has 12 wonderful black & white photos of Scottish landmarks and countryside taken by Ewing Galloway. Photos include cover: Kilted Sentry at the Entrance to Stirling Castle; Edinburgh Castle; Loch Lomond; Jedburgh Abbey; Dora Lynn Falls; Rob Roy and others. Each month has a descriptive text and also a short verse from noted Scottish poets such as Robert Burns, Allan Cunningham and others. Measures 12 3/8" x 11 3/8"; condition is very good for it's age. Paper has yellowed some, some corners are turned a bit and September has a sooty residue; more character-please see photos. Amazingly the plastic ring binding has held up, although is quite fragile; one has broken. Back cardboard has staining. Overall this is a charming piece of Scottish history.
