Vintage Bisque Bathing Beauty-Flapper Girl Pin Dish
In the 1920's there seemed to be an obsession with bathing beauties, perhaps because it was in the 20's that bathing suits began revealing more of the female figure with form hugging, wool jersey, sleeveless tank suits. This little beauty is wearing just that. A bold red painted on suit and she is lounging on a lustrous clam shell with an iridescent glaze. She's wearing black shoes and her jet black hair offsets her rosy cheeks and red lips! Detail is very true to life and, except for a chip off the inside of the clam shell on the left side, this figurine is in excellent shape with no markings I can find; but many of these figurines hailed from Germany. Clam shell is 4" wide and it's 2 1/2" tall with her lounging on it.
