Measuring 8" tall by 3 ½" in diameter, this original Hopi American Indian Pottery Vase is in very good original condition with no restorations. On the bottom of this vase is an old label from "The Painted Desert Inn" in Holbrook Arizona. "The Painted Desert Inn" was built in the 1930's and was running until the 1970's, after which it was turned into a national landmark. The Inn was known to feature many Native Hopi Indians' works. The vase in this auction, which has a Kachina figure with wings (butterfly), is unsigned. There is an area with some slight discoloration due to fire clouding which occurred during the original firing of the piece. This tulip shape was popular in the 1920's -1930's. The image of the Kachina spirit figure is extremely rare and would greatly augment any collection of Hopi or Pueblo pottery.
