Comanche Southern Plains Knife Sheath with Original Trade Knife

Rare Southern Plains (Texas) Comanche knife sheath with original trade knife circa 1870's. This is the only fringed Southern Plains sheath I've ever sold. In great condition for its age. This deer hide over parfleche sheath was once colored with yellow ochre although most of it has worn off or faded but it is still a warm beautiful hue despite years of use. The bead work is typically stark using predominately black and chalk white beads highlighted with strips of whiteheart reds on one side and deep blue on the other so typical of Comanche work of this period. Twisted fringe is 99% all there with a few broken strands and still reasonably supple for its age. The trade knife is stamped Eaton, Sheffield with associated hallmarks of the period. Knife measures almost 13". Sheath is 14" long including fringe, 10 1/2" without fringe and 4" wide, 9" with fringe.
