Western Apache Burden Basket (White Mountain) Circa 1920

This Western Apache burden basket features willow rod construction and willow and devil's claw designs along with a few wonderful orange dyed willow stitches that offset the dark devil's claw patterns. Finely trimmed with original brain tanned thongs, strips and fringes sewn over a red trade cloth base cushion as the old ones were. No breaks or flaws to the stitching and the lovely brain tan thongs are intact and still flexible despite their age. 10" width and 10" height. Fringe length 17" rim to tip. Very slightly sun faded but only enhances the look of the piece.
