Aquatint by Levachez after the drawing by Carle Vernet (1758 - 1836)

Up for sale is this beautiful Authentic Antique Aquatint by Charles François Gabriel Levachez (act 1760-1820) after the drawing by Carle Vernet (1758 - 1836). It is titled "Stag Hunting" No 2 "La chasse au cerf". It is in beautiful condition, considering it's age. The frame has fem rubs (small block of wood missing right bottom corner), the Aquatint is under glass.

Carle Vernet was trained by his father, Claude-Joseph. He won the Prix de Rome in 1782 and the Legion of Honor in 1808 with one of his battle scenes. His paintings depict historical events and daily life with accuracy in detail but ideally portrayed. Vernet was also a horseman riding until his death and often depicting the animals in his paintings.
