Christ Pantocrator Large Gold Icon Hand Painted
This is a fantastic large icon that was hand painted by a Canadian artist. The icon is of "Pantocrator" ( Christ ). It was painted as the Russian technique, painted using egg tempera on cloth glued onto wooden panels.Genuine 22Kt Gold leaves were used for halos and background areas. Panels that utilize what are known as "back slats" — cross members that are dovetailed into the back of the boards that make up the panel to prevent warping during the drying process and to ensure structural integrity over time. The Canadian artist is my beloved aunt, she has been painting for so many years, and has decided to learn this technique from a Russian Art teacher. She has been creating these fantastic icons for a long time, they are amazing. The dimensions are 24 by 30 cm ( 11 3/4" by 9 1/4" ), it is hand signed on the back. This is a fabulous painting of the Christ ( Pantocrator), or a perfect gift to someone special.
