This pair of Coro Duette birds is an exceptional find. The piece was created by Coro designer Gene Verrecchio in 1941. It is patented in design and marked on both the large bird and on the main clip. The patent # for the clip is 1798867 and the birds is # 126490. The patent design actually dates to the 1930's, but this one was not produced until 1941. There is also a script which reads "Coro Duette" on the clip.
These birds have become highly collectable due to their scarcity in the market place.
This beautiful pair of enamel & rhinestone birds is done in rhodium plated base metal. They are sitting opposite each other on a branch from which are flower sprays of enamel and rhinestones. The crested birds are set with pavé crystal rhinestones along with the shades of pink enamel. Each has a black enamel beak and a red eye. They can be worn as individual fur clips or combined on the duette backing and worn as a brooch. There is some wear to the pink enameling as would be expected for a piece of this vintage. They measure 3½ by 2 inches.
When purchasing two jewelry items, the shipping will be combined for the price of one item. Three or more jewelry items will be shipped free of charge, with the exception of Red Tag sales.
