Circa, 1950s. BEAUTIFUL.....This is a very lovely and elegant vintage Mikimoto cultured pearl necklace in white-cream colored with silvery-pink overtones (under fluorescent) light. Perfect for day or night wear. In jeans and T-shirt or in a black dress, the pearl will do the talk. High quality and luster.
.....A strand of 61 pearls in uniform size each at 5-1/2mm.
.....The length of the necklace is: 14-3/4" long. (I know it is a little short but, you could layer it with other necklaces. See photos. And, if that doesn't work for you, you could have the necklace restrung and add some gold or silver beads for extra length.
.....Marked, "M" in the center of the scallop shell motif which looks like a shield motif, on a sterling silver clasp. The letters "SIL" marked right below the "M" stands for sterling silver......I bought the necklace back in March of 2011 at an antique shop up in Vancouver, WA. The clasp had heavy oxidation or patina. I normally leave the patina alone, but in this case polishing makes the hallmark legible.
The necklace is in: EXCELLENT CONDITION.
