Alfredo Barbini Murano Gray Effect Sfumato Fish

This fish made by Alfredo Barbini is a wonderful find. It has a decor that is often called "grey effect." This technique is thought to have been invented by Barbini for VAMSA in the 1930s. Other companies used the technique later. The fish has a red-violet core and bullicante scales with a gray sfumato (smoke) finish. The scales are particularly artistic with tiny bubbles on the edges. The fish is in excellent condition, with no damage. The fins are smooth with no sharp points. Unmarked but attributed with confidence.
