I think the best descriptive words for this fine enamel pin are luminous and lustrous.
If you are an enamel lover, this pin is for you. The colors are so deep and rich with a gorgeous sheen. There are raised gold colored enamel squares of light turquoise, and dark blue against the base of deep turquoise, all done in an abstract geometric modernist design. There is a lot of richness to the enamel work; it is not static and flat enamel. It is enamel over copper, circa 1960.
The back of the pin has its original label:
WIENER Handwerk (Viennese Arts and Crafts)
In Der Hofburg (I think this denotes an area of Vienna)
Hans Polzer Wien I (Wien is Vienna)
Hofburgdurchgang 1 Austria
I am not certain if Hans Polzer is the artist's name or the store's name.
It is also possible that this is attributed to Elfi Muller of Vienna because I have seen a pendant of the exact design and materials and colors that was marked Elfi Muller & CO. Perhaps different stores handled one artist's work.
I do not even know if Elfi Muller is the manufacturer's or the store's name. Maybe it was like Gumps of San Francisco which handles many artists works but puts a Gumps label on the item. Wish I could be more exact, and I welcome any more information.
Condition: Excellent, no chips or breaks on front, on the back edge there is one tiny rough spot, but I believe it is in the original manufacture; it is not a chip.
