Patented in 1891, Whiting's Louis XV pattern had quite a variety of pieces, and one of the rarest is this serving spoon with chased repousse fruit partially filling the bowl. The three fruits detailed in high relief are a pear, a pineapple, and an unidentified ( by me) tropical fruit that must have been popular in Victorian times. The bowl is gold washed on both sides.
The spoon is 8 1/4" long and the bowl is 1 3/4" wide. It weighs a hefty 69 grams. There is no monogram. Condition is quite good, just a little wear of the gilt .
