Late 1800s Southern Sterling Sugar Shell E. A. Tyler New Orleans

Edward A. Tyler was a silversmith active in New Orleans, La from 1838-1879. This beautifully wrought heavy gauge sugar shell is probably from late in his career since it is marked sterling and not coin silver. There is a line of beads around the handle front and back. The shell shaped bowl is deeply scalloped. It is monogrammed EGB.

It measures 7" long and 1 1/2" across the bowl. It weighs 36.3 grams. Condition is excellent.
