Mid 1800s Seven Mother of Pearl MOP Game Pieces Thread Winders
Made in China for export to Europe, these beautifully worked pieces were modified and incorporated into ladies' sewing boxes or used as counters/poker chips in game boxes. Finely engraved on both sides, this lot includes two elongated oval pieces which could be made into a tatting shuttle, a circular disc, three identical rectangular pieces, and a larger rectangular piece. The engravings include floral and bird motifs, a pagoda scene, Chinese characters, and very fine cross hatching patterns.
Sizes: Ovals 2 3/8" long, round 1 1/16" diameter, small rectangles 2 1/4" x 5/8", and large rectangle 2 3/4" x 3/4". All are in superb condition.
