This is a wonderful porcelain Chinese tankard or mug made during the Quinlong Period (1736-95) for export. It is done in the Rose Mandarin palette, hand painted enamels with a diaperwork background and interior border with gilt highlights. The large panel has a busy outdoor scene with people, a horse and a dog engaged in various activities. Their clothes are painted in raised jewel color enamels. The handle is a dragon or mythological creature. The height is 4 1/8 " (105mm) and 3 1/2 " (89mm) diameter. Condition is good for a 250 year old cup. There are a couple of chips on the bottom and some wear of the painted pattern around the inside as seen in the photos. There are no cracks or repairs.
