Showing the beautiful Japonaiserie motifs characteristic of the Aesthetic period, this large fork and knife are a handsome set indeed. The handles are the wonderful spade shape with a spray of leaves and berries in low relief over a pebbled background. The back sides also have relief work.
There are no hallmarks but they have been tested to be Coin (900) or sterling (925) silver and are most certainly American. They are monogrammed with a "D" on the handle.
The spoon is 8 1/4" long and 1 3/4" across the bowl. The fork is 8" long Their combined weight is 103 grams ( 31/3 troy ounces). They show a little wear, especially the spoon, but have no major dents or scratches.
