Pair of 19th C. Porcelain Continental Busts

Presented for sale is an important pair of 19th century porcelain busts bolted to pedestals. The busts are incredible in their detail and hand painted decoration. They may be the work of Paul Duboy as they exhibit many similar qualities to other pieces found of his. However, the porcelain is more glazed, which might indicate that they are German. One of the busts is marked similar to that of Von Schierholz and/or early Sitzendorf. The porcelain is heavy and dense and has a lovely "feel".

Although a mark is present, we have been unable to attribute them definitively. What is evident is that they are of supreme quality and workmanship: from their beautiful detailed features to the rich enamels used to paint them, and even to their hand-decorated pedestals. They are both in excellent condition with minor gilt and enamel wear.

Size: 14 ½" Height, 9" Width (approximately).
