Presenting for sale an elegant French Napoleon III brass inlaid and ebonized display cabinet after the style of Paris ebenistre Mathieu Befort (1813 – 1880). The top of this impressive cabinet has two glazed doors opening to a velvet-lined interior fitted with two shelves. The base of the cabinet has a paneled single door opening to cabinets flanked by free standing pilasters. The ebonized finish is intricately inlaid with brass borders, scrolls, and florals.
The cabinet is in excellent age-appropriate condition with some wear to the ebonized finish and minor lifting of brass inlay in a few areas, which has been mostly restored. The cabinet is impressive as a display piece or for the collector, a rare piece of formal 19th century Paris furniture.
