Offered for sale is a stunning 18th century Louis XV Canapé En Corbeille in basket shape. The Canapé features a beautiful carved beechwood frame crested with grapes and pomegranates and raised on six conforming cabriole legs.
It has been recently recovered in a Scalamandré toile hunt scene and fitted with new springs, padding, and supports. The down cushion has been cleaned and renewed with more feathers added for extra fullness.
The canapé is in very good age related condition with some separations to the frame, which have been professionally restored and reinforced. The separations or (actual joints) were due to the fact that the canape could once be used as a daybed with the back removed for repose. The frame retains its old patina finish.
Size: 41 ½" Height by 80" Width by 30" Depth.
