Presented for sale is a magnificent German porcelain covered, three-part, bolted urn in the Capodimonte style made by the firm of Ernst Bohne Sons (Rudolstadt). The urn is decorated in four deep bas-relief medallions featuring the classical struggles between man and beast, with scenes from the trials of Hercules. Separating each medallion is a three-dimensional figurehead alternating between the head of a man and the head of a lion. The urn rests on a socle, which is mounted on a squared base. The fitted cover is topped with a gilded porcelain finial.
The urn is richly decorated in vivid enamels stepped up with gilding, a stunning piece to display on a shelf, commode, or in a cabinet. It is in excellent condition, no breaks, chips, or repairs.
Size: 15" Height.
