Offered for sale is a very collectable pair of early 20th century Bronze Cavallis or Horses used as mounts on Venetian Gondolas. This particular pair of Cavallis is depicted as a mythical combination of horse, bird, and snake. It is tradition that original Venetian gondolas have two mounted mid section on either side to hold the beautiful silk ropes that adorn them.
The cavallis are nicely cast in bronze with good detail and are adorned with chains to which the ropes attach. They are both in very good condition with a nice even aged patina to the finish.
