A lovely (near) pair of early 20th century Louis XV satinwood twin beds with floral painted headboards. The arched panel on the headboard features a thickly carved molding highlighted in gilt. The floral medallion on each bed is hand painted and the footboards are low and complement the headboards.
We have had the headboards raised by adding a panel to the base, so that today's standard thicker mattresses won't cover up the entire height of the headboard. Our talented restorer is a master at doing this and has re-fitted many such beds for us. This give the beds a more majestic graceful height.
The beds are in very good age related condition, structurally sound. We call them a (near) pair because for some reason the crested carving on one bed is pierced, and the other is solid. There are a few restored scratches and gouges to the wood (most covered up by the mattresses,) the gilding is chipped and somewhat rubbed in some places giving it a nice aged patina. These beds are solid but have a delicate look, perfect for a guest bedroom or a young girl's room. Wooden side rails are included but not pictured.
Size: 63" Height x 41" Width (fits a standard twin size mattress).
