Louis XV Ormolu Mounted Tulipwood Bureau Plat or Desk

The Bureau plat is raised on cabriole legs with rocaille clasps running down to sabots. This desk was produced in either Spain or Italy. In the late 19th and 20th centuries, these countries produced exemplary reproductions of earlier French styles with hand finished construction evidenced by the sturdy structure, chased bronze mounts, and polished finishes. These copies were far superior to later pieces done in other countries such as Egypt.

The desk is in very good condition with minor restored losses to some veneer and a few scratches to the leather surface consistent with age and use. The detail of the bronze casting is nicely defined; this is an elegant piece to place anywhere in a room.
