A sumptuous early 20th century Bronze & Crystal French Louis XV style chandelier in cage form, each level hung with hand cut pendalogue prisms. The chandelier features an upper tier with five scrolled and lighted arms bracketing out from a central upright, hung with rows of various heavy cut crystal pendalogues.
The lower and wider tier is encircled by five scrolled arms terminating in lights and hung with a variety of large hand-cut crystal pendalogues. The frame scrolls inward at the base and meets in a bottom finial terminating with a crystal ball. The casting is superb, very substantial with sharp detail. The hand-cut crystal is original with the exception of 3-4 replacement pieces, a rare find with any older chandelier, to replace cut crystals of this caliber would be an impossible feat.
Our lighting restorer has taken the chandelier apart and re-wired everything, no easy feat, so that it's ready to hang. All the prisms have been cleaned and re-strung where needed. The chandelier is dazzling from all angles especially when lit. One must look at it from below to get the full effect of the magnificent crystal pendalogues and the open frame with its magnificent casting. The chandelier is heavy, and crating will be highly recommended for shipment.
