South German Crossbanded Walnut 18th Century Serpentine Commode or Chest

Listed on this page is an exceptional South German mid 18th century crossbanded walnut commode with serpentine shaped front. The commode features a quarter-veneered top with two square banded panels surmounting a carcass with three long drawers supported on flattened bun feet.

Each drawer is outlined in banding and veneered with book-matched burled walnut panels. Each drawer supports a lock with original pulls. The sides are similarly decorated with a banded square.

The commode is in superior aged condition, superbly constructed by hand, and features a rich patina to the seasoned wood. It is structurally very sound, of substantial weight, and large size The locking mechanisms are present on all drawers.

Size: 31 ½" Height by 53" Width by 26 ½" Depth.
