Pair of Early Miniature 19th C. Charcoal And Pencil Drawings of Couple
The drawings are set into original period black frames with gilded edges and suspension rings. They are both in good condition with the following exceptions. A small tear has occurred in the background of the drawing of the young man at the 3:00 o'clock position and there is a thin white line (scratch) running vertically down the left of his upper hair and brow area. Both frames have some losses, with a nick out of the frame of the young woman at the 3:00 o'clock position.
The size is unusual because the figures almost fill the entire image area. These drawings were possibly executed in Pennsylvania, as there were several artists in that area during the early 19th century, that specialized in pencil and charcoal drawings.
Size: 6" H x 4 ½" W (including frame)
