Early 19th C. Watercolor Portrait on Card of Young British Redcoat Officer
An intriguing miniature watercolor portrait on card of a young British Redcoat Officer, circa early to mid 1800s. The portrait denotes a young officer of rank with his golden epaulettes and single sash with medal.
The portrait is set into an ebony frame with brass fillet with acorn decorated suspension ring. The worn leather backing no longer retains its stand, but as shown in the pictures, the card was backed in writing by paper from the well-known British portraitist and pioneer photography firm of Maull & Fox.
The portrait is very well-done of a very attractive young man, still in very good condition.
