Set of 4 Salviati Murano Glass Wine Goblets With Swan Stems

A four piece set of late 19th century Venetian Murano Salviati glass wine goblets in Rose Polveri Dusting and Gold Leaf or translucent glass with Aventurine. The fluted cup-cake style bowls are supported on delicately blown swan stems attached to a round platform base.

Antonio Salviati (March 18, 1816 – January 25, 1890) a lawyer from Vincenza, was the founder of the Societa Anonima Perazioni Salviati & Co. and head of the Salviati family firm. The company became one of the most important glass producing houses of Europe and helped re-establish Murano as the European center of glass manufacturing. Antonio became skilled at infusing a rainbow of colors and shaping his pieces of glass with great artistry. He died by his own hand, some say that the animosity that developed between his investors and the quest for perfection "unsettled his mind."
