American Cut Out Silhouette of Judge Brown, 1856
Wonderful American Cut-Out Silhouette mounted onto a heavy cream colored paper substrate. The silhouette is penciled on the reverse, “Judge Brown,” and signed on the obverse, Matson, 1856.
The silhouette is mounted in original molded frame surrounded with a gilded matt and protected with glass. The frame includes a suspension ring. The piece is in very good condition with minor discoloration to the substrate, and the frame appears to be slightly off kilter, a charming consequence of being hand-made.
