Early 19th C. French Miniature Portrait on Ivory of Young Woman in Lace Veil
A superb early 19th century French miniature watercolor portrait of large size, painted on Ivory, depicting a beautiful young woman wearing a blue scooped-neck dress. Covering her blond curls is a draped lace scarf. She is set against a neutrally shaded background, giving a soft aura to her beautiful face, which faces slightly left.
The painting is not signed but the artist was unquestionably talented and fond of his subject. The painting is set into a gorgeous highly chased gilt bronze rectangular frame with hinged easel protected by glass. Both the painting and stand are in superb condition and come from a fine Estate, whose legendary miniature portrait collection was famous for its quality and size.
