Offered for sale is an early 19th century Louis XVI giltwood Canapé a Condident with a finely detailed ribbon carved frame crested with a basket of flowers. The elegant lines and deep relief carving of the Louis XVI style are evident in this piece. The front arms terminate in flower-laden chiseled cornucopias with a padded seat supported on delicately fluted legs.
The settee is in excellent condition with a nice aged patina that leaves a soft ambiance to the gilded surface, which is so desirable to connoisseurs who truly understand the beauty of aged gold leaf.
The settee has been recently re-tied and reupholstered in an exquisite neutral-colored damask from Old World Weavers and can be used as is or reupholstered in the material of your choice (there is an almost indiscernible water stain on the lower left seat.)
