Presenting a classical 19th century hard paste figurine produced in France by Edme Samson, with bold hand painted enamels, fine detail, and encrusted with flowers. The figurine was produced as a copy of a soft paste model done by the Chelsea factory in their gold anchor period (1756-1769.) Chelsea copied figures from the Meissen factory. Europa and the Bull was one of Meissen's most famous and recognizable figurines.
Edme Samson a famous French porcelain producer of Meissen, Sevres, Vienna, and Chelsea copies. His workmanship and detail were extraordinary, and his pieces have become collectible in their own right. The figurine is in excellent condition with restoration to two of the toes of Europa.
