Louis XV Corbeille Shaped Aubusson Needlepoint Tapestry Bergere Chair
Stunning late 19th century French Louis XV Corbeille (basket) shaped bergere (chair), covered in a magnificent Aubusson pastoral needlepoint tapestry. The back of the chair features a "Watteau" like courting scene while the loose seat cushions depicts a pair of birds in a marsh setting framed by scrolls, vines, and leaves. The sinuous hand carved frame is in excellent structural condition with a desirable age related wear to the finish.
The needlepoint tapestry is in very good condition with some minor restoration to small areas within the seat cushion. The tapestry is delicate but still looks outstanding and can be used as is. The chair matches the Louis XV Corbeille Sofa that we also have listed and is covered in a complimentary tapestry.
Size: 36" Height x 24" Width x 26" Depth.
