Oil Painting Portrait of Bebe Tresure 1843
Offered for sale is an American portrait oil painting on canvas. The provenance is that of 21 year old Bebe L. Tresure, dated 1843 and painted by "John Chandler Green" (1815-1879) of Lancaster, MA. Mr. Chandler was a well-known engraver and lithographer who is credited with illustrating and possibly authoring "The Remarkable Story of Chicken Little," published in Boston in 1940.
This painting came out of a fine Estate and was bought at Sotheby's Auction in New York in the 1960's, although not signed, the history is on verso, put there by the family. It is in excellent age appropriate condition, with possibly a small repair to the canvas in the lower right hand side.
Size of frame: 36 1/4" height by 29 3/4" width.
Size of visible art: 29 1/2" height by 23 1/2" width.
