Victorian Portrait Watercolor on Ivory by B. Woodmann
Presented for sale a lovely hand painted watercolor portrait on ivory of a young Victorian maiden in a large feathered hat wearing a shawl collared dress and holding a bouquet of flowers. The portrait is set into an French ormolu ribbon-decorated frame.
The portrait is in very good condition, signed by artist B. Woodmann at the 7:00 o'clock position. The glass bezel has a minor chip directly above the signature, and the ivory portrait does not fit the frame perfectly. Included in the backing is a curious old letter fragment found with the portrait, handwritten in French.
