Presenting for sale a magnificent pair of matching early 20th century hand painted Majolica wall chargers with serpentine molded edges framing a wide band of grotesques, festoons, and foliage.
The delicate lilac color used to highlight the raised border, is rare for this type of decoration, but sets off the vibrant center painting beautifully. The hand painted center medallion depicts the sea-nymph Thetis frolicking with her creatures, richly portrayed in soft earthy colors. The chargers are in excellent condition, fitted to hang or display.
