19th C. Louis XV Kingwood Side Cabinet Fitted With Bronze Mounts

We present a magnificent and rare late 19th century Louis XV style Kingwood side cabinet in reverse Bombé form surmounted with a breche d'alep fitted marble top; attributed to the Paris workshop of Joseph-Emmanuel Zwiener.

The cabinet tapers at the bottom and is decorated with hand painted signed panels to the front, richly mounted with ormmolu chased bronze. The exuberant use of finely detailed bronze mounts, in the classical style, is found framing the doors, sides, corners, drawer, and frieze. The cabinet is raised on cabriole legs terminating in floral bronze sabots.

This piece came from an affluent Grosse Pointe, Michigan estate that had amassed a top-notch collection of 18th and 19th century French furniture, mostly signed by famous cabinetmakers such as Linke, Roussel, and Boudin. The double doors open to reveal a crimson lined interior fitted with shelves.

The cabinet is in excellent condition, exhibiting exquisite construction and decoration, with the original finish French polished to perfection, a piece for the connoisseur and collector of fine Continental furniture.
