A breathtaking Italian Majolica wall charger hand painted in the center with a seascape. The outer border is crimped and festooned with large applied flowers and birds. The charger was produced by the Minghetti factory.
The Minghetti dynasty started with its founder, Angelo Minghetti, in 1850. His fanciful pieces have often been compared to that of Luca Della Robbia. Examples of his work are eagerly sought by collectors in Italy, as well as the rest of the world as each piece is unique and a delightful work of art. The Minghetti factory continued under the patronage of Angelo's son Gennaro but ceased production sometime in the mid 1930's.
The charger is a feast of visual artistry and can be hung on the wall. It is in excellent condition with a few age related chips to the flower petals.
Size 18 ½" Diameter.
