Offered for sale is a unique late Georgian walnut tilt-top Tea Table with a pierced-carved edge. The top exhibits richly grained walnut woods with a stunning cut out fan carved edge, the top hand-carved out of one piece of wood. The top is supported on a spiral twisted vase and ring carved upright, raised on three curved legs. The legs are finely chiseled with shell-shaped knees, which are trailed with bellflower carvings and terminate in talons around around a padded foot.
The pierced carving on the table is finely detailed, and the table is in excellent condition showing a shallow age crack to the surface of the carved upright and minor restoration to a small plug of wood toward the bottom of the upright base. The legs are sturdy and unbroken. There is also a minor age crack to one piece of the outer carving on the edge.
Size: 27 ½" Height by 30" Diameter.
