19th C. Miniature Watercolor Portrait Trio, Napoleon And Family After Antoine Berjon

Presenting for sale a beautifully mounted trio of 19th century miniature watercolor portraits depicting the Emperor Napoleon, his second wife Marie Louise, and their only son, Napoleon II. The portraits are signed by Berjon and attributed to Antoine Berjon, a well-known 18th and 19th century French painter, (1754 – 1843.) They are finely detailed and show the touch of a talented painter.

The portraits are surrounded by a cast ormolu frames, which are mounted on a fan shaped easel that is backed in hunter green velvet. The bronze ormolu frame is finely cast and crested with wheat scrolls. The back has a bar at the top for hanging.

The portraits and easel are all in very good age appropriate condition with the exception of a vertical crack running down the portrait of Marie Louise. The frame is in excellent condition backed in old leather and retaining a nice even age patina.

Size of Round Images: 2 3/8" Diameter

Size of Oval Image: 2 ¾" Height by 2" Width.
