Offered for sale is a late 19th century pastoral oil painting on canvas by British artist, B. Cook. The painting depicts an idyllic setting in the countryside, a thatched farmhouse in the background which sits by a dirt road. An elderly man has stopped to chat with a seated woman. A wagon waits by the side of the road to be loaded with newly cut trees.
This painting is typical of the 19th century British and European genre scenes that were and are still popular amongst collectors the world over. Their charm never ceases to add warmth and ambiance to any room of the house.
The painting is in good condition with a couple of small patches the back. The painting is set into its original gilded frame, beautiful but in need of restoration if desired. It is signed and dated in the lower right hand corner.
