Early 20th C. Louis XV Marquetry Bombe Commode With Marble Top
Presenting a formal early 20th century Spanish made two-drawer bombé Louis XV style commode mounted with ormolu and a veined Italian marble top. The shaped top surmounts two large drawers embellished with marquetry and sunburst veneered panels against a darkened mahogany surround, which creates a stunning contrast. The panels are set off with scrolled bronze ormolu mounts separating the dark and lighter woods. The sides of the commode mimic the front, and it is raised on cabriole legs ending in substantial sabots that continue up to figureheads at the top.
The commode is in excellent condition, superbly made and in excellent age-related condition. Nothing enhances a room like a French Commode; we can never find enough of these timeless pieces.
