Offered for sale is a stunning example of highly decorative Japanese Satsuma earthenware from the Meiji period consisting of a five legged base, a baluster shaped vase with dragon handles, and a figural domed cover. The vase is profusely decorated with raised figures and chrysanthemum flowers highlighted brilliantly in gilt and other enamels. Both the vase and stand are signed.
The ensemble is in very good condition with a repair to one of the legs and to a chip on his collar. It's a real showpiece for a stand or chest.
