Meiji Period Japanese Satsuma Earthenware Baluster Form Vase

Offered for sale is a large and impressive Meiji period baluster-shaped Satsuma earthenware vase of large form. The vase features a shaded blue ground painted with clouds enhanced with trailing vines in blossom enameled in gilt and pearlized petals. The double S-scrolled handles attach to a bas-relief butterfly and a single bird is perched on a branch.

This stunning piece is quite large and perfect for display on a pedestal. It is in very good condition with gilt wear to the handles; marked as shown.
