This is a large significant print from Audubon's 1840's edition of Quadrupeds of North America. The Hare Indian dog is one of two dogs Audubon included in the series. The other is the Eskimo Dog. Note the tepee in the background. The print is slightly trimmed from it's 22 x 26 inch side. There is chipping at the corners . (Upper left hand corner) This print is guaranteed to be a FIRST EDITION print, by Bowen in 1848. It is listed by all major Audubon print dealers in similar condition at $3,500, including The Philadelphia Print shop, the Old Print Shop in NY and Heald books and prints. I am a collector of these prints. This particular print is one of two I already own which is why I am selling it. THE WRINKLES IN THE PICTURE ARE IN THE PROTECTIVE FILM COVERING THE PRINT NOT IN THE PRINT ITSELF.
