This unusual antique flatback pitcher or jug was produced by the famous Royal Worcester factory In Worcestershire, England in 1887 and carries the appropriate Royal Worcester backstamp.
The pitcher measures 5.5" tall and, although it is the usual gilt edging and handle that is common to this type of pitcher, the rest of the decoration is more unusual in the it consists of gold floral and foliage designs over a yellow background which is certainly a contrast to the usual blush ivory and flowers designs that Royal Worcester produced. When examined closely, the gilt/gold flowers and foliage are also highlighted around the edge of each leaf and flower in a more brilliant finish which causes the piece to reflect beautifully in direct light.
As far as we can see, the pitcher is in excellent condition with no damage or crazing whatsoever.
