Today I am offering this lovely Victorian brooch (circa late 1800's - early 1900's). It consists of gilt-washed brass with what appears to be a hand-cut purple amethyst glass stone, possibly old Czech glass. The large stone is faceted and bezel set. There are a couple of very tiny nicks that are not visible without a loupe and would be commensurate with age. It is surrounded by eight smaller faceted stones that are prong set and that alternate between eight lovely clusters of what appears to be wisteria. The stones are all bright and sparkling
The brooch measures approximately 1 and 3/4 inch in diameter. The back displays the original C-clasp closure that is consistent with the time frame given. The pin mechanism is secure and ready to wear.
A lovely Victorian, rich-looking brooch for your wearing pleasure.
