Description: This is a wonderful vintage wedding gown or dress that was worn by the bride in 1949. I acquired this from the lady herself and the note attached to it read "1949 Audrey King Hall sister of Peggy Hammond Floor Length Gown Ending in a Train of White Silk Moire". The dress features an off-the-shoulder neckline with netting inset for modesty - personally, I might remove the netting. The dress has 16 matching silk covered buttons decorating the bodice and six similar buttons at each cuff. The sleeves taper to a point at the cuff. The dress has a defined waist and full skirt. There is a small train at the back, 6" lower in the back than the front. The fabric is woven with a bow motif throughout. The netting/tulle is soft, not stiff.
Material: Silk moire
Sizing: No size is indicated, but please rely on the following measurements for fit:
Shoulders: 17" across seam-to-seam
Sleeves: 25" long
Sleeve Inseam: 17" long
Bust: 36" around
Waist: 28" around
Length: 58" at the front; 64" at the back
This wedding dress is in very good condition with the exception of some rusting to one of the buttons on the front. You could either re-cover the button or remove it and replace it with the bottom button as the buttons are purely decorative. There is some light soiling at the very bottom of the dress, which I am fairly certain would come out with a proper dry cleaning with a cleaner you can trust with vintage. Other than that, there is no wear, tear, stains or odors - this dress was well cared for and stored over the years.
This is a wonderful vintage wedding dress - excellent quality fabric, very pretty style and in very nice condition.
